.. a look inside the kitchen

An excellent story on the coming about of Firefox.

A must read.

  1. Haven't read it all, but a first look provokes a first rant. That page looks like shit in IE!

Now I know the "but IE is crappy" argument, but it doesn't work that way. A good webdeveloper checks his page looks good in all major browsers. Like it or not, IE still is the major browser. We can all be very indealistic about Firefox, but if you don't want to scare away visitors, you'd better make sure the page looks good in IE as well. Or do principles overrule development logic?

Lets face it, 80% of Firefox' success is because it's the only feasible alternative to IE in a long, long time. However, I don't think we should let emotion take over from common web sense.

  2. Only goes to show that people who make a great browser do not necessarily make great websites ;-)

Thanks for you comment. I will probably have to moderate it, so it could take some time to see it appear on the blog, but I am usually quite fast at that.

When I feel that you are commenting just to get some link spam to your own site, you will probably never see it appear ..
